I tried to update a 3504 WLC from 8.5.182.0 to 8.10.130.0.
On the Download Site I chose tftp-Method and entered the Server-IP and the Path. After starting the Download, I got an Information, that the Download start - and that’s all. No further Information’s.
The Traffic on the Interface to the WLC is ridiculous.
How can I see the Progress of the Download?
Is it possible to Stop it?
It's not possible to save the Config or start another Download: "Transfer in progress by another user"

Hi @fstaubach
IF you have the IOS on your machine, choose HTTP and map the folder where the IOS is by hiting" choose the file location"

If you want to cancel download- STOP TFTP Service - eventually it fails
where is WLC and where TFTP ? is in the same VLAN or campus - or across WAN
Across WAN using TFTP is bad idea.
rather GUI i will try command level to transfer the image, if the WLC near to you- then use USB.

We had the same problem other day, we were doing upgrade from 8.5.131.0 to 8.10.185.0, but same message whatever you try - Transfer in progress by another user. We used SolarWinds as tftp server and there was also message that transfer just started, no progress bar, nothing... We thought about force reload, but after some time there was notification on SolarWinds that transfer is complete. We checked the boot sequence and IOS was there. So maybe you can try to give it some time.

There is no "progress bar", in CLI nor GUI, in 8.5.X.X. And "progress bar" will only appear starting from 8.8.X.X.
If this is a 3504, there is a USB port which is supported. I know it works because I have used it several times.

You can see more detail if you use CLI instead of GUI:

The Problem is solved.
Solution:
After a few Hours the TFTP-Session had been Timed-Out.
Next was a Reload with the old Firmeware.
Then I updated the Firmeware Step-by-Step:
8.7.106 > 8.8.130 > 8.10.130 > 8.10.185
This Updates had been uploades via HTTP.
It takes longer than nessesary, but it works.
