Block channels for DFS

Hello

For a customer I have configured a workgroup bridge. To improve the roaming the workgroup bridge only scan three different channels (100, 108, 116). When the other access point (not the workgroup bridge) use DFS they can change the channel.

Can I configure the access point that in fact DFS is used it only can change between this three channels?

I hope I could make myself understood.

Well its not a good idea to actually use the Extended UNII-2 channels as may devices will not support that.  Why not use the unii-3 channels as they are not DFS.  Here is a link to DFS which should help:

Thank you for your reply. I forgot to say that I live in switzerland. As I understand we can't use UNII-3. Outdoor we can use 5.47GHz to 5.725 GHz but only with DFS.

We need a very fast roaming. When the workgroup bridge has to scan all channels from 5.47 to 5.725GHz it is too slow. So I try to find a solution that the wourkgroup bridge has to scan only three channels.

You can block some bands this way.

Yes I know that I can block a complete band. The problem is that when I block the band 1, 2 and 4 the workgroup bridge has to scan the complete band 3. This are 10 channels or something like that. This is too slow in our case. Is there no posibility to block a single channel? Something like: "dfs channel 5500 block".

Well... That is how it works. Since your in a band that requires DFS, the AP has to scan periodically as part of regulations.

Your better off finds a band with the least channels and use that.
