I have a problem with my Catalyst 9800 L-C.
My 9800 had some configurations then i decided erase that config with the command factory-reset all
Later my 9800 reboot but when my 9800 started i can see my 9800 in rommon mode.
i wastrying initializar with diferent commands but even the command Dir showed this;
rommon24>dir
Incorrect Usage
Also i was trying initializar from an USB but it was impossible;
rommon4>dir usb0:
File system not supported
Also i was tryaing to used this guide

make sure USB formatted with File System: FAT32 ( that is the best option is USB or you can try TFTP)
i prefer USB with 8GB stick,
here is the guide :

boot: cannot determine first file name on device "bootflash:"
You need to boot from USB image.
make sure you follow the steps in the document, dir usb0: is the key to see if the files are there

Step 1. Have a USB pen drive with the .bin file to be loaded to the 9800 controller (on 9800-80, due to CSCvn82287
, a USB 3.0 flash drive may not be recognized in ROMMON).
post outout
dir bootflash:
then try TFTP method other option as per the URL i have provided

I don't think that USB is FAT32. Like @balaji.bandi said use a 8Gb USB drive and make sure it is *really* FAT32. If it's larger then Windows tends to use exFAT by default but may still report it as FAT32.
https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/difference-fat32-exfat-ntfs-file-system/
Format it from a command prompt and specify the fileystem format to use.
/FS:filesystem Specifies the type of the file system (FAT, FAT32, exFAT,NTFS, UDF, ReFS).
Or use whichever tool or utility you prefer but make 100% sure it is really FAT32.

What is the brand/make and the size of this USB stick?
Cisco routers and switches will only support up to 16 Gb size.
03-21-2021 09:22 PM
My usb is 1.0 and it is only 4gb

CSCvn82287 is irrelevant in this case anyway. If it was that it would say "media drive usb0: not present" but it's not - it's saying "File system not supported" which is why I refer back to my previous reply on making sure it is actually FAT32?
Regarding bug descriptions - like Leo says they can be wildy inaccurate or misleading sometimes - we've asked for them to be updated with correct info a number of times.
So have you reformatted the drive definitely using FAT32?
Otherwise just use TFTP.

Try get another USB as suggest and try and let us know. or you can use TFTP to resolove quicker.

This bug, CSCvn82287, should be made "private" because it is so inaccurate: I have several Samsung- and Toshiba-branded USB 3.0 thumb drives (various Toshiba "models") and they work on IOS-XE in ROMMON flawlessly.
And this is one example why I always take Bug IDs information with hesitation because they more-than-usual lack "accuracy".

Post the complete output to the following commands:
dir flash: set
