Dear All,

i have one question regarding renewing CCNP Certification.

one of my friend has CCNA and CCNP, both the certification are going to expire in 2 days. What is the best option to renew all his certifications.

or

Can he go for one of CCNP Wireless Certification. 642-747 for example ?

the prerequsits of CCNP wireless is he must have CCNA Wireless or CCIE. he do not want to go for CCNA.

Can he give CCNP Wireless any paper without its pre-requsits ? and if yes will it renew his CCNP old certifications ?

Waiting for urgent reply.

thanks in advance.

To renew, you have to pass one of the current CCNP exams for the certification you hold or pass a higher exam such CCIE written.  I advise you check Cisco website for latest info.

Hi Syed,

Your friend can pass ANY 642 - Professional level exam and will re-certify their CCNP

The 642-747 would certainly qualify as a 642 - professional level exam so

he would be good to go without the need at this point for the CCNA wireless.

CCNP3 years

To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

  • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional level exam, or
  • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or
  • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam, or CCDE Practical Exam, or
  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.

I have CCNP and its expiring mid this year, by your explanation and per the link; does it mean i can write

642-637 Secure to recertify. I'm asking of this because i understand it requires 4 exams to achieve the ccnp security.

I hope my question is understood.

Thanks,

Benjamin

yes, so long as you pass a current Professional level test, it will recertify you.
