Depends on the firmware.
The last-n-final firmware version to support 2700/3700 is 17.3.X.

Like what was mentioned, the compatibility matrix is a good source for the information, but you should also talk to your Cisco rep or provider before you buy anything because of other line items you need to decide on line license. The release notes for the image will also state the supported access points, if the notes have been posted.
Your Cisco rep or vendor should also help you with the migration from your current access points to the 91xx ap's. You would need to consider this when you decide to upgrade the controller to a 9800. You don't want to be stuck with a controller that you no longer can upgrade or patch due to the access points you have.
