Have 40 APs connected to WLC to controllers

How can i connect directly to specific IP of APs with SSH\Telnet

the WLC software version is 7.0.235.3

i was told that this version would allow this from the web GUI of the WLC, but i cant find such an option

if not posssible what other options are there?

HI Jacob

You can coonect to the AP using the WLC.

What is that you are trying to do?

Regards

the AP model number is AIR-LAP1131AG-I-K9

the LED is showing a pink light (not the usual green  or blue)

i dont see any errors on WLC so i would like to connect with SSH to troubleshoot

how is this done?

Hi Jacob

Are you able to ping the AP, if so open the CMD and try to telnet to it.

If you are not able to ping the AP and you are not at the location of where the AP is, you may have to visit the site and take a console cable with you.Plug this in and you can gain access to it.

Have you tried to restart the AP from the WLC?

Regards

can ping

cannot SSH or Telnet

i understand that i may need to config some command on WLC for this to work

but i am also looking to do this directly from WLC GUI (i was told its possible)

Jacob,

You can telnet/ssh as long as the AP has joined the WLC and is currently in the RUN state. You also have to allow telnet/ssh from the WLC Wireless Configuration page. If you having an issue with the AP not joining the WLC, then you need to console into the AP and post your output. The output will tell you why the AP is not joining.

The APs are joined and working(clients can  connect) , where do i see the RUN state?.

where do i find the telnet/ssh settings in the WLC wireless configuration page?

Wireless - Global Configuration - set login creds

then choose

All AP - choose AP - Advanced Tab - enable SSH

Great answer! Helpfull

Will setting this cause any restarts?

No, this works without restart.
You'd get a warning if the AP would try to restart.

Look in the Wireless Tab then on the left Global Configuration. There you can set the username and password for telnet/ssh and enable that feature globally. If your APs show up under the wireless tab, then they most likely in the run or download state. There is not much you can see or do from telnet or ssh just to let you know.
