Dear All,
our WLC's (8540) Primary Image is 8.2.151.0 and the Backup Image is 8.2.160.0. Is there a simple way to make 8.2.160.0 the new Primary Image and 8.2.151.0 the new Backup Image ? I do not mean changing the active status which is pretty straightforward by using the command "config boot backup". We really mean changing the Primary Status from the old 8.2.151.0 to the new 8.2.161.0.
Any hint is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,
I guess your current set up is like below.
Primary Boot Image............................... 8.2.151.0 (default) (active)
Backup Boot Image................................ 8.2.160.0
And you want to change it like below.
Primary Boot Image............................... 8.2.160.0 (default) (active)
Backup Boot Image................................ 8.2.151.0
Please correct me if am wrong.
The only option is to load new 8.2.160.0 to the controller, so that it will take over the primary and current primary (8.2.151.0) will move to back up.
Please let me know if this makes sense?
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, after you enter the "config boot backup" command and reload the device, the currently running one will be the new primary image.

Hi Sreejith,
thanks it was exaclty that way. Just changing the Backup Image (8.2.160.0) to active and then reloading the WLC didn't change 8.2.160.0 to the new Primary. We really had to download 8.2.160. once more to make it the new Primary one.
Thanks to all of you for your feedback.
