Hi Erik,

600 AP is specificaly for Office Extended AP where in the teleworlers use it for mobility.. 1140 is not for specific OEAP.

here is the lin kwhich may give more info..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps11579/data_sheet_c78-651456.html

I am unable to read your URLs with my CCO login: forbidden file

how OEAP different from APs like 1540, 1140? do they work on WLC 5500 or only work with WLC 2500?

Hey Surendra,

In the data sheet, under "Interfaces", can you verify if this is not a document bug:

4x 10/100/1000BASE-T autosensing (RJ-45)
1x 10/100/1000BASE-T WAN port (RJ-45)
• USB : Not available (future release)

Is the "4 x 10/100/1000BASE-T autosensing (RJ-45)" a 4-port switch?  Like the 860W or 880W router?

I like this part:

• Cisco 2100, 2500, 5500 Series Controllers, Wireless Integrated Services Module (WiSM) and Wireless Integrated Service Module 2 (WiSM2),

The cat's out of the bag!

I will check it out and keep you posted Leo!!

Hi Leo,

Its not a DOC bug.. I just reconfirmed and found that we do have 4 RJ 45 ports on the AP, 1 for dedicated corporate use and rest 3 for personel use..

and WISM 2 is the new generation of wism which will be coming which includes the hardware which is as powerful as 5508

Lemme know if this answered your question!!

Cisco Wireless Services Module 2 Controller for Catalyst 6500 Series Switches

Spoke to soon.  Just saw it today.

I presume the new WiSM-2 is supported with the SXJ IOS?  This information is not available in the SXJ Release Notes and WiSM-2 data sheet page.

Yes you are right!! its supported from SXJ train and above... I guess the docs are still yet to get updated!! We are not as fast as you!!

Hi Eric,

Just to jump in for Surendra for a moment +5"S")

Anytime you see the word "partner" in the link just remove it and you can

get to the docs;

For example;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps11579/data_sheet_c78-651456.html

instead of

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5678/ps11579/data_sheet_c78-651456.html

Cheers!

Rob

oops.. I dint know that!! Thanks Rob!!

I'll also add that the new 7.0 WLC code will allow you to create "remote LANs". That remote LAN corresponds to the 4 ports of the 600 AP. The AP will tunnel that traffic back to the WLC.

So the AP is not like a home router (doesn't do routing or whatever other feature an ISR will do), but it means you can plug your laptop and ip phone via wired to it as well and still be tunneled back to the WLC.

Nicolas

for company that has WLC 5500 and 1140 APs deployed, what can we do about 600 AP?

for home user?

what to do about 4 LAN ports?

The reply to your question is just above your question ...

The 4 ports of the AP are used to tunnel wired traffic back to the WLC.

this is interesting

"you can plug your laptop and ip phone via wired to it as well and still be tunneled back to the WLC."

what kind of application can I do about this cool feature?
