setting password for WLAN

Hi all,

I'm new with WLC 5508 FlexConnect mode. I've just configured a new WLAN in WLC and want to set up simple password for smart phone users to connect to this WLAN for surfing the Internet. The idea is that phone users will choose this SSID then enter password to access Internet. Question is: should I select static WEP then enter encryption key for password ? In WLC go to WLANs then choose WLAN, go to Security tab then Layer 2, from dropdown menu choose Static WEP.

Thanks for all comments.

any help please ?

Is it being used for general guest access? I would recommend WPA2 if you are going to use a static password. WEP essentially useless anymore. Any devices that only support WEP should be used at this point anymore.

Thank you for all comments. I'm still struggling with the configs. In WLC 5508, there are choices of:

WPA+WPA2

 802.1x

 Static WEP

 Static WEP+802.1x

CKIP

None + EAP Passthrough

then if I chose "WPA+WPA2" then there is no space to put in Password ???

change option "Auth key mgmt" to PSK

if this solves your problem, please mark the aswer as correct!
