Too many concurrent AP image downloads, AP will not Join

Dennis Mink

peeps,

wonder if any of you have seen this before, trying to join an 1142 on a WLC_SRE version 7.4.

the AP can ping the controller and vice versa.  In the controllers GUI: Monitor>Statisticc>AP join, I can find the mac of the AP that I am trying to get joined.

the details of this mac show:

Last error occurred:      Lwapp discovery request rejected

last occurred error reason: Too many concurrent AP image downloads

Last Join Timestamp:

any idea where I can increase the threshold for this?

I have probably tried once too often.

Thanks

Hi,

When answering Discovery from lap, a WLC evaluates a couple of conditions, one of which is "Resource Conservation Mode", which i think should be happening in your case.

If WLC is doing upgrades, it will limit the number of maximum laps that can join, regardless of platform and code version it is on.

What is the SRE module here, is it a SRE-700 or 900?

What is the number of laps already on it?

Max concurrent downloads should be limited to 10 if i am not missing..

How many laps do you try to join simultaneously, when you see this issue?

I would recommend adding in laps in small groups, may be of 4-5.

Once downloading laps complete the download and REG to wlc, try adding only one lap, remove all other joining laps, or shut there uplink interfaces, and enable them one by one, allowing them to join.

Regards

Sahil

Trying to join 1142N  LAPs.    when getting the boot up process on the LAP, it endlessly loops in finding a valid WLC, although I have primed them to go to 192.168.7.1.

The WLC log shows:

*spamReceiveTask: Jan 23 09:38:26.863: #CAPWAP-3-DISC_MAX_DOWNLOAD: capwap_ac_sm.c:1716 Ignoring discovery request from AP ac:f2:c5:f3:ea:f0 - maximum number of downloads (0) exceeded

(every 10 seconds).

Will post the bootup as soon as I have access.

Mate,

Where are the outputs from the APs?

Thank fully these error messages are so meaning full (NOT).

This problem was caused by the evalution licence not be active. once I accepted the EULA of the evaluation licence, the AP joined!!!

I had the same issue after an upgrade. What I did was to reapply the license, then went to the monitor tab> statistics> AP join and click the blue tab on each of the AP that are not registering and click remove. For the once I click removed it registered and allowed to download.
