Wireless - Lost of signal ramdomly

Hi all.

I have a CISCO 1200-ABG used for 5 or 6 notebooks 11b. The problem is that the CISCO keeps loosing the transmition ramdomly. I used a software to monitor de signal strength and quality, and it's clear that, every 5 or 10 minutes, it doesn't transmit ANYTHING (sinal strength = zero) for 5 secons aprox.

Does anyone have any idea about it?

Do have a copy of the log? Are you running LEAP or PEAP? If you're running PEAP the signal will appear to go away when a user fails authentication. It then associates again, the signal appears to come back, then goes away again when the client fails PEAP. Remember just because you are assoiated it doesn't mean that you're authenticated. Let us know what you're running for security or let's see a part of the log...If you're still having this problem that is.

I dont have the logs. But I remember it shows only "client has disassociated, etc", but nothing different and unusual. I'm not using any authentication or security. I was using WEP 128 but with this problem I disabled everything to try to make it work fine.

Try to keep from using channel 11 if possible. Microwave ovens will cause problems on APs using channel 11 (if it's close enough to the unit). Also, 2.4 GHz cordless phones can cause AP issues. This sounds like an interference issue to me which is why I am suggesting that you look at the three non-overlapping channels in your environment (1,6,and 11). If you are using channel 6 then try using channel 1 instead. It could be that there is another nearby business with an AP that is causing a channel conflict and confusing the clients. Oh! Here's one more thing to check. On the client cards make sure that you uncheck the setting on the RF Network tab labeled "Periodically Scan For A Better Access Point".

hi

cisco kid is right . this particualr feature does cause problem in certain areas.my clients used to roam between APs when this feature was enabled
