A99-RP2-SE compatibility

Online I can find very limited info on A99-RP2-SE.  What I found is that they support ASR9912 & ASR9922.  Will the RP2-SE work on other ASR9900 CHASSIS, ie ASR-9904, 9906?  Thanks!

Hi,

the RP is for ASR 9912 and 9922, but for everything below you have to use the RSP that has fabric cards integrated. I think that this would be called a hybrid system with FCs in the chassis plus in the RSP.

The ASR 9006 and 9010 do not have any fabric cards in the chassis, only in the RSP.

I would recommend to check Cisco Live and also Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW) where you can configure a A9K chassis with the supported hardware. This is how I do it to make sure that everything is compatible.

Thanks.  I was looking at some of the Cisco Live presentations but I didn't quite get the info I was hoping for.  Makes sense that the 9912 and 9922 could use a RP since it has separate Switch Fabric cards, but doesn't the 9910 also have seperate Fabric Cards?

Yes, the 9910 has separate FC (SFC3-S) but it has FC on the two RSP as well, that's why it's called a Hybrid system.

The ASR9906 has separate FC as well, but it's SFC3-T.
