Assalam-o-alaikum!

Dear Tahir Munir,

Cisco recommends to use maximum of four SDRs, including one owner SDR and up to three non-owner SDRs. Additional route processor (RP) or RP pair must be installed to manage each SDR in the system. For details, please check the following link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/xr12000/software/xr12k_r4.2/system_management/configuration/guide/b_sysman_cg42xr12k_chapter_01.html

Best regards!

Prerequisites for Working with Secure Domain Routers

Before configuring SDRs, the following conditions must be met:

Initial Setup

  • The router must be running the Cisco IOS XR software, including a designated shelf controller (DSC).
  • The root-system username and password must be assigned as part of the initial configuration.
  • For more information on booting a router and performing initial configuration, see Cisco IOS XR Getting Started Guide for the Cisco XR 12000 Series Router.

I believe you already have this initial setup as you are running two SDRs (owner & non-owner SDRs) already.

Required Cards for Each SDR

  • Additional route processor (RP) or RP pair must be installed to manage each SDR in the system.

Only an additional RP is required for each new SDR you want to create. Logically speaking, there is no benefit in having one RP within an SDR as there will be no ports for any connectivity. So, logically you should have a line card too to have ports in SDR.

Software Version Requirements

  • Multiple SDRs, including non-owner SDRs, are supported on Cisco IOS XR Software Release 3.2 or higher.

I believe you already IOS XR release higher than 3.2 as you already have SDRs in your setup.

Maximum SDR Configurations

  • We recommend a maximum of four SDRs, including one owner SDR and up to three non-owner SDRs.

I have 2 LC and 2 RP so its mean i cant create more thn 2 SDR (one owner and one non-owner)?

As per my understanding, yes you can only have maximum of 2 SDRs (one owner and one non-owner).
