Installing RSP440-TR in ASR 9904

Hello experts

We currently have an ASR 9904 that has a RSP440-TR and a 24*10GE-TR Line card.We bought another RSP440-TR to put in the chassis . Can we put the RSP in when the router is running ? and Do we have to do any configuration for new RSP  or the process is done automatically without any changes ?

I am really appreciate  if someone provide me  with any help and tutorial video or helpful documents for installing RSP-440

Hi,

installing a standby RSP requires no additional configuration.

just plug it in and it will synchronize with the active

If Tarun will allow, I want to add on top of that.

As you will have redundancy you may finish it configuring NSR for your protocols (BGP, MPLS, etc). This will allow to maintain sync between active and standby and recover faster in case of failover.

Also we recommend to have "nsr process-failures switchover" feature which will trigger the failover in case of critical protocol failure which also allows faster services recovery.

We can not reload the router or shut it down because it is under load .Can we do  that when router is running ?

yes you can install as standby while the router is running

Yes, you can insert the new RSP and monitor using show platform or admin show platform, also show redundancy in order to validate the RSP Card operation.
