Yesterday we upgraded our Expressway C and E to X8.5.2 from X8.2.1
Now, our Jabber for iOS and Jabber for Android devices are disconnecting more frequently. When the application is re-opened, the user is told that their password is wrong. If they re-enter their password, it will connect but will disconnect again eventually.
When switching between the office Wi-Fi and the cellular network, Jabber sometimes reconnects after a long period of time or sometimes never. Sometimes it's IM that doesn't reconnect or sometimes it's Phone Services that does not reconnect.
It is difficult to pinpoint a pattern but it is visibly less stable than the previous version we were using. No other configuration changes have taken place.
Reason for upgrade was due to no ringback tone when dialing outside numbers using Expressway

Reached out to TAC
https://tools.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCuu31716
Will downgrade to X8.5.1 in the meantime while waiting for X8.5.3 to be released

Hi Jakub,
Thank you for posting this problem and workaround.
I'm having the same issue with a clean install of X8.5.2, so I'll take your advice and try downgrading to X8.5.1.
Got to love Cisco's QA processes.
Edit/Update: Just confirming that downgrading to X8.5.1 solved this issue for me.
I was also having issues with Jabber for Windows clients, not just iPhone and Android.

No problem. As soon as I sent my logs to TAC they immediately directed me to the bug report. Currently it's been working as expected.

Gents,
I am having the same error but in addition to this it is also giving the following error for one user. This is a new deployment of 8.5.2 not an upgrade.
traffic_server[4660]: Event="Request Failed" Detail="Access denied" Reason="Host is not in allow list" Host="presenceserver.domain2.domain1.com" URL="EPASSoap/service/v105" UTCTime="2015-06-09 09:13:02,701
When i select Automatically sigin option then it gives the following error.
edgeconfigprovisioning: Level="WARNING" Service="UDSManager" Detail="User cluster not found" Identity="('username', 'A311KHFA')" Cluster="ccmsub.domain2.domain1.COM" Reason="UC node ccmsub.domain2.domain1.COM not found" UTCTime="2015-06-09 09:22:58,913
Both call manager and presence clusters are part of domain2 and domain1.

I strongly urge you to downgrade to 8.5.1 to resolve this problem.
Don't waste any more time troubleshooting, its a bug.

Hi.
Another issue that 8.5.2 introduces is with early media.
If a SIP provider doesn't send 180 ringing , users through MRA making outbound calls, does not receive ringback and calls are disconnected after 20 seconds.
8.5.1 hasn't this issue

Hi all,
just an update to this thread.
Recently I tried to upgrade both C and E to 8.5.3 and I had an issue with authentication between C and CUCM with error Event="Request Failed" Detail="Access denied".
Today I tried to install 8.5.3 on E only while on C I maintained 8.5.1 release.
All worked perfectly.
A couple of hours ago I tried to install 8.5.3 also on Expressway C and now all is working without any change.
Just my 2 strange cents :)
Cheers
Carlo

I tried today what you suggested and unfortunately for me, no dice.
With 8.5.3, I go off the office wifi and my Jabber no longer authenticates. Tells me my username and password is wrong. No settings have changed aside from the update.
Downgrade back to 8.5.1, works immediately

Hi Jakub.
If you upgrade Expressway E only , are you still able to login remotely?
Let me know
Cheers

I'll give it a shot now
06-19-2015 04:57 AM
Yup, upgraded E to 8.5.3 and can still connect without issue
06-19-2015 09:59 AM
Hi Jakub.
Now.. are you still with 8.5.3 on E and 8.5.1 on C?
If yes.
Please On C flush DNS cache through System ---> DNS and try to upgrade now to 8.5.3 and let me know
Cheers
Carlo
