Can anyone provide a list of components in PCCE 12.5 that do require a smart license?
If I look at the UCCE 12.5 Configuration guide, page 24 does talk about smart license and steps required:
But when I look at the PCCE 12.5 Configuration guide, there is no reference to Smart license:
The release notes for PCCE 12.5 do mention Smart license and direct you to PCCE 12.5 configuration guide which has nothing for Smart license in it:
When I reviewed the CVP 12.5 configuration guide, it states that Smart licensing is available but does not mandates its use. I would really appreciate any clarification. Thanks!

Yes, the evaluation period is 90 days (we just did the install for 12.5) as stated in the config guide as well. To sum up this thread, you do need Smart Licensing for PCCE 12.5. The steps to set up Smart Licensing are in the link below (Cisco did fix the web guide as well, pdf always had this information)
There are different ways to set it up (direct vs on-premises vs offline), details below:

Thank you for providing the list. The excel does not have version control so can't tell if it has the latest information. Some of the components you mentioned have already been on Smart License from previous versions. I was trying to understand if there was something new which would require Smart License for PCCE 12.5 to work. This is mentioned in the release notes but no further details are provided in other docs.

PCCE (ICM, CVP, Finesse, CUIC, ECE, VVB) do not require Smart Licensing. Whatever you're on today will be moved to a Flex Plan. When you subscribe to Flex, that agent seats and CVP Ports are all part of that package - no smart licensing involved. This could change in the future, but this is how it works for now.

We had a TAC case going as well and they referred back to this thread so I assume this is official. I guess it is a documentation bug then that PCCE 12.5 release notes mention Smart Licensing, refer to Configuration Guide but there is nothing about it for PCCE config guide atleast. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this. Did they create a documentation defect for you that Smart Licensing is not used in version 12.5 for CCE and that it will be moved whenever they update the documentation next for 12.5?

Unfortunately, I did not see any documentation defect getting created. We are in the process of upgrading everything to PCCE 12.5 and have not seen anything asking for Smart Licenses yet. I will post here if we run into any issues. Thanks!

So it appears that Cisco has updated the documentation to include the Smart Licensing information in the documents now, so it IS part of 12.5.

Yes, unfortunately that sometimes happens if Cisco updates the documents and it isn't replicated everywhere. So you may have to look in 3 places:
-Web version of the document
-Search field in the web version of the document

Does anyone know how long is the evaluation period once you have the system up and running? Thanks!

Haven't tried it myself, but I believe it is 90 days.
