CP3905 SIP One Way Audio and Codec issue on Asterisk

Hi everyone,

 

I have a strange situation. I have a customer using a third-party Asterisk server. He is trying to register his CP3905 phones to it. One of the phones on older firmware registers on the server, but outbound calls get one-way audio only. I tried forcing G729 Codec both in the XML file (preferedcodec) and on the Asterisk server, restricting it ONLY to G729 in SIP configuration and in the extension, but the phone still reports using G711u on outbound calls. Inbound calls will use G729, though.

 

Since I am convinced this is a codec issue, since network issues were mostly eliminated, I was wondering if there is another place I can force the device to only use G729. I looked at all references I could find for the SEP file and the only place I could find a reference to codec was that key.

 

If you have any other ideas as to why the phone is getting one-way audio on outbound calls (only), please let me know.
