ip phone issue

if a ip phone is not getting ip address

what r the steps to be taken for troubleshooting

If Phone not getting IP address, Probably you have to check the Vlan and IP Helper Address configuration. Also check the DHCP Server.

This goes step by step diagnosis :  (any other phones working in the same switch)

 

1. Once you connected the Phone, do you see PoE got Power and Phone ON.

2. If Phone is ON, Do you have switch port configured right VLAN for voice(may be yourcase)

3. where is the DHCP Server ( do you vlan interface with DHCP relay / helper config where the DHCP Server Located)

4. is this only Phone having issue, or any other phones working in the same switch.?

 

post us the switch config, tell us your DHCP Server IP address ? what IP you expect for the IP Phone s?

Is voice VLAN enabled on the port?
Is the voice VLAN enabled on the Trunk port?
Check the voice VLAN for the correct helper address.
Check the DHCP server for the status of the subnet and lease.
