Hello all,
We are upgarding CUCM from 6.1.3 MCS to 9.1 UCS. Our plan is to jump from 6.1.3 to 6.1.5 to 9.1.
We took backup of 6.1.3 MCS via Disaster Backup Recovery & restore it at UCS after new installation of 6.1.3.
We contacted cisco licensing team to issue us temporaray license for 6.1.3 for UCS so that we can proceed to upgrade process. Cisco issued us license but we are not able to install it successfully. Its giving attached mac-address mismatch error.
We contacted back to license team again & they confirmed there is no issue in license file, its some thing with the system.
Can any one advise what could be wrong with system. I am sending the output from system, screen shot of error & license file.
Please advise.

Hi Anis,
you need to provide Licensing Team with LicenseMAC instead of physical address of MCS server.
you can run command show status on UCS pllatform.

Hi Anis,
Even though Virtualisation is supported from Call Manager version 8.0(3), could be the reason you do not get License MAC.
the LIC file which u have got has been generated on Oct. 13,2013 and seems to be valid till Dec. 12,2013[no expiry] ,physical MAC address is same.
Have u enabled any feature on CUCM after u did installation on UCS which requires a license?

If you install the v1.3 refresh upgrade COP file, it should get rid of the license error and allow you to proceed with the upgrade to 9.1.2.

Hi anis,
I think you could upgrade to 9.0 without a need for license
or in a downtime, you can go with bridge upgrade if your server support
check this link for bridge upgrade

Problem here, is that what you're doing is not supported anyway, a jump upgrade is ONLY TO 9.1(2), and for that one, no license is required on 6.x or 7.x during the process, you only ask for licenses once you've done the last DRS restore on 9.1(2)

Hi Anis
Can you take a look on the below document , please?.
1) Perform a DRS backup of the entire cluster
2) Install refresh upgrade Cisco Options Package (COP) file
3) Upgrade to Release 9.1(1)
4) Perform a DRS backup of the entire cluster
5) Create new virtual machines with Release 9.0 OVAs
6) Install Release 9.1(1) using the same hostnames and IP addresses as the physical cluster
7) Restore DRS backup on the entire cluster
8) Verify database replication and consistency
9) Migrate previous licenses into Enterprise License Manager
Thank you

Hi
Please find the below diagram which will help you:-
On Jump migration:-
• Jump release doesn’t need licenses for interim versions
• Install the migrated license on Enterprise License Manager 9.1(x) during Unified CM’s
60 days demo mode

Hello Aman,
No, we didnt enable any feature into CUCM after installing into UCS.
We finished the fresh installation of 6.1.3 on UCS, restore the database ( from physical MCS server running 6.1.3) & we got error.
Even in feature services page i can see Call Manager Service is not running. I am attaching the error which appears on home screen.
please have a look on attachments.
Our plan is to upgrade from 6.1.3 UCS to 6.1.5 UCS & then direct to version 9.0.
At this stage & situation ( with missing license) can i proceed to upgrade on 6.1.5 version & when i will reach to version 9.0 i will share the licenseMAC to get proper licenses ?
Appreciated your support.
Regards,
Anis

Hi Anis,
You resend all license files installed on MCS server to licensing team so that they can re-issue the lic file.
I think SW Feature lic file is missing that is the reason u are getting this message.

aman

I raised to license team, based on my outputs they issued me license file which is not working.
On return discussing with license team they said we have provided you license with the mac address u shared if its not working then something wrong with your system & u need to talk to our support team we cant help you more on it.

Hi Anis,
If system is not in production, u can also wait if team mates can help .

Dear Aman,
How team mates can help us in it dear.
MCS is in production & UCS NOT. We can play around to work on UCS but not on MCS.
And the funny part is this that my customer has only one publisher running in environment at the moment. There subscriber's hardware got faulty & its not under support .
So the whole environment which contains 11 branches, more then 500 nodes with Presence is running only on one server & in this situation i have to migrate on UCS 9.0

What you're doing is not supported, not even sure how come licensing even issued you a license, did you tren them this was on US? That's not a jump upgrade, and even for that procedure, you do not get licenses until you're on 9.1(2)
