Using VWIC-1MFT-T1 for voice PRI on a 2610XM

Hi, can not set this controller as a pri-group or ds0-group for CCS or CAS signaling.

In controller, only channel-group is available

CME_ROUTER(config-controller)#?

Controller configuration commands:

cablelength    Specify the cable length for a DS1 link

channel-group  Specify the timeslots to channel-group mapping for an

                 interface

clock          Specify the clock source for a DS1 link

crc-threshold  Specify how many CRC errors per second to be treated as

                 severely errored second (SES)

default        Set a command to its defaults

  description    Controller specific description

detect         Enable detection of loopback request

exit           Exit from controller configuration mode

fdl            Specify the FDL standard for a DS1 data link

framing        Specify the type of Framing on a DS1 link

guard-timer    Guard timer (0-20) for xcsp calls - timer duration and

                 accept/reject on expiry

help           Description of the interactive help system

linecode       Specify the line encoding method for a DS1 link

loopback       Put the entire T1 line into loopback

  mode           Configure the controller mode

no             Negate a command or set its defaults

shutdown       Shut down a DS1 link (send Blue Alarm)

  snmp           Modify SNMP controller parameters

Once Controller t1 is setup, It creates serial 0/1:1 as if it assigns it for data, but I need voice (ds0-group or pri-group)

any idea why IOS does not offer these setup ?

THANK YOU !

I have a 2610XM

Hi,

of course you need the NM and the DSP modules. Look at your offer, you maybe see if the DSP banks are occupied.

PVDM-12 are suitable for NM-HDV. Maximum configuration are fifth.

If not, you need at least one depending on how many channels you will occupy and which voice codec is used.

  • "Each PVDM-12 contains 3 TI 549 DSPs.

    • Runs up to twelve voice calls using a medium complexity CODEC             (G.711, G.729a/b, G.726, fax).

    • Runs up to six voice calls using a high complexity CODEC (G.729,             G.728, G.723.1).

    • PVDM-12 fits into SIMM sockets on the NM-1HDV network module

    • Five PVDM SIMM sockets on the NM-1HDV network module"

Found this: - still dont tell us how to config...

    Cisco 2600/2600XM/2691/3700 Chassis WIC Slot

When the Multi-Flex Trunk is used in the chassis WIC slot, each T1 can be configured with a channel group to generate a virtual serial interface in the running configuration. At most, you can have two channel groups per VWIC. This means that a 1-port VWIC T1 controller can be configured with (at most) two channel-groups, and a 2-port VWIC can be configured with (at most) two channel-groups on one T1 controller or one channel-group per T1 controller.

If the Cisco 2600/2600XM also has an AIM-VOICE-30 or AIM-ATM-VOICE-30 card installed, one T1 controller can be configured as an ISDN PRI or Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) Telephony voice interface. You can configure more than one T1 controller as an ISDN PRI or CAS Telephony voice interface for the Cisco 2691/3700 which can have more than one AIM VOICE card installed.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

The version is the latestin found for 2600XM router c2600-ipvoicek9-mz.124-15.T14

for the DSP, the only ones I know about are the ones for my FXO FXS on my MN-2V...

I tried to upgrade to c2600-ipvoicek9-mz.124-25d, - latest ios-  same problem, still no access to pri-group or ds0-group

looks like I need to assign it as a serial interface...

Anyone can assist with this configuration ?

You do not have the DSP module indicated in your post above.

Anyway, the 2600 are obsolete, get at least an ISR G1. You will be able to re-use the VWIC card.

This is for a CCNA VOICE LAB, I dont have another ISR. I have a 2811 but no T1 card for it.

DSP should not prevent me from configuring the pri-group or ds0-group ? I might be missing some DSP hardware, but Cisco documentation confirms this card is supported with this router, just need to get the configuration. from some one who knows.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jean,

The NM-2V card cannot be used with VWIC-1MFT-T1 card .Supporting Cisco URL

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/interfaces/nm/hardware/installation/guide/OvrNetM.html

As said by Mr. Paolo, PVDMs are not appearing in show inventory, you need to have PVDM2 can be used only in conjuction with HDV2 NMs.

    Please find supporting Link.

    regds,

    aman

Thanks for the links and info.

The NM-2V card is for my FSX and FSO. (1/1) - they work OK

VWIC-1MFT-T1 is connected to a diffetent stand alone slot. (1/0)

Do you mean I need to add a DSP card inside the router ? because there is no room on the router for another  NM-2v type of card and the VWIC-1MFT-T1 has it's own slot.

I got this VWIC-1MFT-T1 on ebay for 5$, no one talked about adding DSP !!!

    Hi Jean,

For Pri-group command to appear , u need to have DSPs/PVDMs on router. Cisco 2600XM router does not have on-board DSP slot that is the reason , we need to go for Voice NM which can have PVDMs inserted on them.

    Hello,

Since you are using the Cisco 2600 you have only the possibility of an AIM-VOICE-30.

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2641/products_data_sheet09186a0080088753.html

The other method is to insert the VWIC into a NM (NM-HDV) with enough DSPs.

Goes not because the slot is indeed busy.

Without AIM and NM you can only use the card for data applications.

Thanks to all for the help.

I found a Cisco NM-HDV Genuine for $20 on ebay.

Does the NM-HDV comes with enough DSP to operate a LAB ? or do I need to buy one PVDM module on top of this ?

Of course I will need to remove the MN-2V / FXO FXS  for the T1 and PRI labs...

    What do you think ?

    Hi,
