Hi Team,

Trust you are doing well,

Can anyone assist me highlight the differences and advantages while up grading from cucm 11.5 to 12,

our CUCM cluster is over the WAN and majorly tends and services telepresence units , the whole system comprises of a cluster of expressway C& E, a cluster of vTPS managed by conductor, TMS, TMSXe for scheduling and synch with exchange, we are also planning to move to CMS with cisco hybrid nodes (Webex video Mesh), these have already been delivered and we have to plan a change.

Looking forward to hear from you,

Thank you,

Mujeeb

it mainly boils down to additional bug fixes and new features, you need a reason to upgrade. I suggest to go through the release notes to see what are the new features, and see if there are any you need. if you dont, dont bother upgrading in my opinion

I agree with Dennis. If there are not new features or bug fixes that you need, wait at least until 12.5.

There is nothing Earth shattering in 12.0 from 11.5, the main difference to keep in mind is re-architected licensing, where PLM is gone in place of Smart licensing.

Hi there

New and Changed Features guide is your best bud

The major 5 changes

1. Support for Hybrid Deployments

2. Unsupported IP Phone Models

The following Cisco IP Phone models are not supported in CUCM 12.0 (and many of the following are not supported in CUCM 11.5 either)

7970G
7971G-GE
7921G
12 SP+
30 VIP
7902
7905
7910
7910SW
7912
7920
7935

3. Smart Software Licensing
Goodbye to the traditional Product-Activation Key (PAK) for licensing. In smart licensing your licenses are associated with your Cisco account, rather than the specific device being licensed

4. IPv6-Only Support

5. Enforcement of Minimum TLS Version
CUCM 12.0 allows you to specify the minimum TLS version to be used. TLS 1.0 is configured by default, but you can change that minimum to version 1.1 or 1.2.

You can also chcek the below presentation for the detailed info.

Hope this Helps

Cheers
Rath!
