Hello ,
I have a centralized Callmanager with one remote site.Callmanager version is 3.3.3sr3.
I am trying to enable IOS MOH .I have programmed multicast MOH on the callmanager and limited the multicast moh to LAN.
The problem is if a PSTN calls comes to one of the remote IP Phone and they put them on the hold there is no music. They just hear silence.I have enabled mutlicast routing also on the WAN.
On the callmanager I get a event error saying "nomohresourceaviable".
Note:This setup has just publisher. No subscriber.
Any help on this will be really good.
Thanks in advance,
Radhika

What does a "show ccm-manager music-on-hold" output look like ? Does it show any MOH streams when you put the user on hold ?
Have you assigned a Multicast Media Resource group list (includes group and source) to the remote site gateway in the Callmanager configuration ? Also check to see the codec setting for the region in which the remote gateway is falling ? Cisco IOS MOH only supports g711.
Also make sure you have not set the "increment multicast" -> IP address. If this happens, each time a different IP address will be used to send the multicast stream. The IP address chosen for multicasting in the callmanager should match the one configured on the remote gateway.
Also the .au file stored in flash has to be in g711 mu law.

Hello Shanky,
1.Show ccm-manager music-on-hold does not show any output when I put some on hold.
2.Yes I have added MRGL to the remote gateway.
3.I have created a different region for music on hold server and it uses G711 for all the regions.
4.I did change the "increment multicast" to ip address and it did not do me any good.
5.Yes the file on the flash is g7llmu law.
Problem still exsists.
Thanks,
Radhika

Hello Dan,
This was the document that I followed to configure Multicast MOH.The problem is when I put the user on hold and see the output of show ccm-manager music-on-hold I see no multicast address and in the callmanager I get an error in event vwr saying "nomohresource".
I did do a debug of ip voice media stream and I get a message saying "NOT ENOUGH CMGrs to have secondary".
Thanks,
Radhika.

How many devices are homed on this callmanager system ? Have you tallied the number of phones, gateways, conference bridges etc ? What server is being used ?

I found the problem.Looks like a bug in H323 gateway(most likely CSCdv43814.).It works fine with MGCP.
Thanks a lot for all your help on this.

Uh oh, I have a customer who wants to do this eventually, and I had seen in the implementation doc that there was a CM bug for multicast to H323 gateway, CSCdz00697, that was supposed to be fixed in all 3.3.3 versions - I even opened a case to verify, and they assured me that H323 gateway should be fine, and said only IOS bugs were pre-12.2(15)ZJ3, so as long as you were beyond that, should be no problems. The bug you mention also looks like it applies to older IOS. I have not tried it yet. What IOS are you on?

Mary,
I running 12.2(15)ZJ3 with callmanager 3.3.3 sr3.I don't know why it is not working with h323 gateway .It works fine with MGCP.I am not sure whether I am running into a bug.Looks like it.Just give a try with H323.All the best.

One note is if you roll out IOS MOH and stream from the gateway - that is, if you do not use multicast across the WAN. Some IOS versions prior to 12.3.7 (as I recall), especially in the ZJ code will cause the router to crash after a while. The only fix in that code is to reboot the router. The issue is a memory leak and it is not resolved until around 12.3.7.

Oh, great. This stuff is causing me to age in dog years (7 for every 1 actual year). We were planning to stream the MOH from the router, just like the doc advertizes. Do you know if that problem is across all platforms, or a specific bug? We might not have enough memory some places to go to the latest stuff. I guess I had better load up CM 3.3.3sr4a and first try the multicasting to the H323 gateway, to see if we are even past that hurdle. Thanks for the tip. Mary Beth

I think it will be better to try as h323 gateway first and if it does not work go for MGCP.
Thanks,
Radhika

My problem is that they have a few gateways using analog DID, which does not work with MGCP. But thanks, I think I will just see what happens our lab, whenever I can get to it. If it works there, at least there is some chance it might work out in the field..

I tested this in my lab and it is working fine. I am using a 3745 with 12.3.8T and CCM 3.3.3 sr4a
Make sure the "ccm-manager music-on-hold" command is added.

Why, thank you! They really wanted to get to this soon, and I feel a lot more confident going ahead, even if I can't get a chance to try it in our lab. I was afraid it was another one of those things that *should* have been fixed, but somehow wasn't, and they didn't test that specific configuration or something. Thanks for taking the time to try it.
