Router selection

I need assistance in selecting a router that has the following interfaces.

Qty (6) Ethernet all 10Base-T

(2) LAN connections

(2) Internet Connections

(1) to WI-FI (802.11B) reciever

(1) to Satellite Terminal

Qty (1) Analog for Voice

Qty (1) T1-PRI for PBX (Voice/Fax)

I was looking at the 2811 with NM-HDV2-1T1 and VIC2-2FXS to support the T1-PRI and voice. The problem is the ethernet links. I dont believe the 2811 will support my Ethernet links. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

DJ

You could use the following for the Eth Interfaces

HWIC-4ESW USD

$425.00

Four port 10/100 Ethernet switch interface card

Why so many Eth ports needed ?

This is going on an oil platform and i need to support ethernet via 802.11B (wi-fi)in one direction to another platform and Ether to Satellite for shore. not to mention the 4 ethernet for rig lan and internet pc support. I was not aware that the 2811 had HWIC-4ESW.

Thanks for your help

DJ,

Have you looked at the 1801W routers. These have a builtin 802.11a/b/g support plus an uplink port which is mostly DSL interface. Very good for SOHO's.

But i'm being handed 4 distinct 10/100 copper links to support my LAN segmentation. and i'm not sure now if the 2800 with HWIC-4ESW will work. HWIC are for Layer 2 switching to end devices. I need Layer 3 for routing right. I'm not a Network Subject matter expert. Do you know what i can use (router wise)to support 4 LAN's, 2 airial links (1 Wi-Fi, and 1 Satellite), and 1 T1-PRI (23 Ch) and 1 Fax line?

I know the NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 with the supporting VIC2-2FXS will support my voice w/PVDM2-32 for Voice compression. But i need it all in a single unit.

Thanks,

DJ

hi

you can use the cisco 2811 as the router which supports all the requirements.

4 port ethernet

2 Port FXS

----------

and

2 port multiflex module

I hope this URL will clarify all your purpose

Isn't this hwic-4esw a 4 port routed interface like the nm-4e . I don't think it is, so does it meet the requirements by the topic starter ?

The Cisco 10/100BASE-T Ethernet switch HWIC provides Layer 2 switching for traffic between one port on the HWIC and any other port on the same HWIC. The HWIC also supports Layer 3 traffic to and from the HWIC and any of the other platform interfaces. Traffic between different VLANs on the switch is routed through the router platform.

Two Cisco 10/100BASE-T Ethernet switch HWICs can be stacked in a router chassis to provide expanded switching capability. See the "Stacking of Cisco 10/100BASE-T Ethernet Switch HWICs" section for a detailed description.

Dont i need Layer 3 Routing for my four (4) seperate LAN's? Not to mention the Satellite and Wi-Fi links.

I know it needs to be modular to support my voice connections with VIC and DSP for compression, so will a 3800 work for my requirments?

Thanks,

DJ
