Dear
I want to setup a new stack of 3750X switches
2 x WS-C3750X-12S-E
1 x WS-C3750X-48T-S
Is this possible or do need al switches to be IP Services (-E) ?
Then I need to swap the 48T-S towards a 48T-E
Kind regards,
Philippe

Hi Philippe,
All switches need the same IOS version and feature set to operate in a stack together.
cheers,
Seb.

It's possible to stack (mix) IP Services with IP Base.

But not recommended, by Cisco. If you have SMARTnet cover and raise a case, then I'm not sure what TAC would say either. They might say 'Sorry, but we can't help until you upgrade the 3rd switch to the same feature set'.
The delay in purchasing software, processing the order, obtaining the software and finally upgrading the switch could be considerable. How vital is the switch stack? It is worth the stress and potential downtime?

Yes it's possible and no you don't need. IP Services and IP Base can work in the same stack.
Generally if using IP Services, you'll want at least two switches with that feature set license so if the master fails, the other IP Services licensed switch will keep the stack running IP Services (otherwise the stack would drop down to IP Base feature set).
(Remember on a 3750X stack, you'll have the same binary [universal] image installed on all your stack members, but each will have its own device specific feature license.)
As it appears you have dual 12S with IP Services, you're covered for IP Services redundancy.

Not off the top of my head. OP was over a decade ago, and believe Cisco now pulls much EoL documentation.
I can say, we commonly did such mixed feature stacks with the original 3750 series and later with mixed 3750/3750E stacks. (The latter to used 3750E 10g uplinks for the stack. There was a 3750G that came with a single 10g port but its supporting ASIC was only good for 8g.)
What you might still find documentation for, the stack election gave precedence to IP services over IP base, for mixed feature set stacks.
Lastly, Cisco over the run of those series, did change some of their licensing terms, so it's possible later IOS versions no longer supported mixed feature set stacks.
BTW, when we mixed feature sets, we insured two stack members had IP services because if only a single stack member did, and it failed, the remaining stack would lose all IP services features (until the IP services member was added back into the stack).
Although in the above, I didn't mention the 3750X, because my experience with those was in a different company and they didn't bother with mixed feature set stacks, but I believe it was still possible on those too. I recall the 3850/3650 series is when all had to have same feature set
Oh, and at least on the original 3750 series, all stack members didn't need to always run the same IOS version, but special rules for that.

I am having stack of two WS-C3850-24U-E with 16.12.7 version, IP services enabled and smart licensing enabled on it
now i want to add spare switch WS-C3850-24U-S with ipbase services enabled. Please see below steps which i will use and let me know if they are correct or not.
Step 1 : upgrade IOS version of spare switch to match with stack IOS (16.12.7)
step 2 : enable Temporarily/ evolutionary IP services lic using below command
# license right-to-use activate ipservices acceptEULA evaluation
Step 3 : Connect it with stack and verify internet services
step 4 : Enbale smart licensing feature using below command
# license smart enable
step 5 : Register the Switch with Cisco Smart Licensing using below steps
Log in to Cisco Smart Software Manager
Navigate to Smart Licensing → Inventory
Click New Token → Copy the generated token
Step 6 : Register the Switch with the Token using below command
license smart register idtoken <your_token>
Step 7 : Write conf and reload
Kidnly let me know if this approach is correct or do i need to do some modification in it ?
