Hi All,
Recently deployed Cisco Catalyst 3850-48P-E Stack Switch. I am receiving a lot of syslog messages
''''Controller port error, Interface Gi3/0/28: Power Controller reports Short detected''''
Switch Software version : 03.03.02SE RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
I have IP Phones and some access-points on these switches to supply power to. These messages have been populating recently only.
Can anyone kindly help with details of this issue and resolution as well ?
Many Thanks
Sandeep

Do this:
- Command: test cable tdr interface Gi3/0/28;
- Wait for approximately 5 to 7 seconds;
- Command: sh cable tdr interface Gi3/0/28; and
- Post the output to #3.

Hi Ivan,
Open a new thread and send me a private message (PM) of the link. I will be happy to help you.
I will not post the recommendation here because the OP has marked my original recommendation with a low rating. If other people see my response with a low rating they might think that it's the incorrect or wrong course of action.

Would you be able to assist me with this same issue?
Hi Charlie,
I am happy to assist but please open a new thread. I am not inclined to make any recommendation on this thread after the OP has rated my troubleshooting and diagnostics with a very pathetic score.
Anyone who gets to see my response with a low score will think of my post as BS.
If you are able to create a new thread and PM me the link, I will respond.

I'm seeing this too on a 3650 switch with an AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9 attached. Was working fine until a few days ago.
Does this indicate someone swapped in a bad cable, or could it be a false positive? It's in a remote office 8,000 miles away, so visually inspecting this won't be easy.

The patch cable nearest the switch is bad, Johnny. Get someone to replace the cable and chop it up.
