Hello community.
I am trying to configure interface vlan1 to get an ip address from dhcp by entering the commnad ip address dhcp
ios rejects the dhcp portion of my command as not recognised although it is referred to in Cisco manuals.
my IOS version is c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin
I get the same problem when I try to configure ip http secure-server on the switch.
Can somebody inform me as to whether this is a known bug or whether I have the correct IOS version for these commands?
Thank you.

Not a lot of documentation on this one, but it appears that (for the 2950 specifically) if you clear any IP configuration off the SVI, the switch will try and act as a DHCP client.
A 2950 I had with a totaly blank configuration, sucsessfuly pulled DHCP when connected. Worse comes to worse, try and toaly wipe the config on the switch and see if that does it.

Thank you Gregory.
Can you please tell me what ios was this switch running on?
What I find rather annoying is that this valuable info is not reflected in the CISCO documentation.

My IOS is crypto.
c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin
If not the case, could you please direct me as to what version I should be using?
Thank you for your reply

John,
Can you manually set an IP address on the VLAN?
What options do you get if you type "ip address ?"
Can you enable ip http server?
Just trying to establish if this is a general IP processing issue or some IOS feature set weirdness.

Hi there.
Thanks for your reply.
I can set an IP manually but I do not want that.
I do not remeber the options now and I do not have the switch in front of me. However what I DO NOT GET is the dhcp option.
I can enable ip http server but NOT ip http secure-server.
