next-hop of a route in VRF known via global routing table

I read that if next-hop of a route in VRF is known via global routing table, then it is normal and connection will work..Why is it so? Shouldn't the next-hop also be known in same VRF? Please suggest.

Need a bit more information than this ie. the context of the sentence you quoted.

You can have a next hop pointing to the global routing table instead of within the VRF if that is what you need and you would also need a route back into the VRF for the return traffic.

VRFs are obviously for keeping traffic separate but there are times when you need to be able to route out of the VRF.
