I have a NME-16 on a 2811 router with a PoE power supply. When I plug in a 7961 set I dont get any power. The port doesn't even light up to recognize the phone. It will on a laptop but not the phone. CDP is enabled. Any help would be appreciated.

12.2? That's a pretty ancient IOS. Not old, ANCIENT!
Anyway, OK, so your module is powered up correctly. Next culprit could be cable issue.
Get the device and plug directly to the switch interface. Bring at least THREE different patch cables.
By the way, do you have a 3750G/E/X or a 2960G/S that I could ask you to do some tests?

The patch cable is good and so is the phone. I've tested both on another switch. I dont think its the wiring due to the Cannot execute cmd on legacy switch 1 error. Not trying to be difficult, but I cant seenm to find any documentation on it.

As far I have seen, if your VoIP unit won't power up, you either have a bad phone or your cable doesn't support the 3rd pair.
Do you have a 3750G/E/X or a 2960G/S in your network to run a TDR?

No, I dont have any of those. I'm sure my cable and phone are good because when I plug them into another switch the set comes up with no problems. Is there any documentation on this message
Cannot execute cmd on legacy switch 1

Hey Nathan ,
As per output of "sh power inline", there is no power available for POE devices (check avail power in the output)Pls connect.
You need to get bigger power supply unit to router to support POE function on ether switch.
Hope I answered your query.
Good luck !

Hi,
Can you please post the "sh ver" and "sh inventory" command outputs.
Thanks & Regards,
Antonin

I agree with others, sounds like the IOS you have does not support that.
