SVL & Etherchannel in C9300 and C9500

Hello,

I am planning to procure couple of switches for our new office.

On Access layer, I will have C9300 8 switches stack (6Nos. C9300-48P-A & 2Nos C9300-48UXM-A). I am also considering C9300-NM-2Y (2x25G SFP ports) uplink module in each C9300-48UXM switch.

On Distribution/Core layer, I will have 2Nos. C9500-24YAC-A switches run in SVL.

So the question is,

1. for connectivity between Access and Core, I am wondering if using 4 port 25G etherchannel ( 2x25G ports on uplink module in each C9300-48UXM) connecting to both C9300 switches in cross function, will work?

2. On C9500-24YAC-A, can I do SVL on 2x100G fixed ports but DAD on 2/25G fixed ports in each switch?

Please advise.

Breejesh,

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, you can have a 4-port Multi-Chassis EtherChannel from Access to Core.

2. Please reference https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9500/software/release/17-3/configuration_guide/ha/b_173_ha_9500_cg/configuring_cisco_stackwise_virtual.html for DAD configuration options and limitations.

Thanks for responding Scott. I will go with 100G fixed ports for SVL and 10G fixed ports for DAD, on C9500-24YAC-A.

- This will work as expected

- personally i do not waste 100G ports for SVL - 10GB good enough (not sure how big is this network? do you really need 10GB ports here ?

- DAD any small link is good enough for my personal suggestion.

Thanks for responding Balaji. The network is not too big but at the same time, I do not have any use of 100G other than SVL. So, I will go with 100G fixed ports for SVL and 10G fixed ports for DAD, on C9500-24YAC-A. Sounds good?

Sure - if that is your Intention to deploy. i do not see any issue.

make sure you also understand what @Scott Hodgdon  advised the document "Restrictions for Cisco StackWise Virtual"

Yeah.

I will have right licences in place. Will not be using breakout or QSA cables. All I am going to use are Cisco QSFP-100G-AOC1M= & Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU2M direct attach cables for SVL and DAD links.

you should be good technically..let us know how it goes, all good close off.
