COBRAS Migration from 1.2 to 11.5..

So apparently Cobras IMPORT latest version won’t import 1.2 files. It says to use an older version but from where can I get that? Then the next question is what version of Unity Connection must I import it to? I’d imagine older versions of COBRAS won’t work with 11. What's my path here?

Thanks!

You would need to import your 1.2 file into a previous version of CUC (7.x, 8.x, etc). Then export from this version using COBRAS and import to 11.5.

I understand that, but what version numbers can I use, what is the newest version I can go to from 1.2? and the error dialog indicates I need an older build of COBRAS itself. I can get that from ?

Not sure about the older version of COBRAS. The 11.0 admin guide references using COBRAS for upgrade from 1.2.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/11x/administration/guide/b_cucsag/b_cucsag_chapter_010010.html?bookSearch=true

The release notes for 11.5(1) say upgrade only from 11.0(1), 10.x, 9.x and 8.x.

Looks like you can go to 11 with import from 1.2, then upgrade to 11.5.

Hi Brandon,

I have the similar project, but I am upgrading from 7.0(2) to 11.5, so is my path 7.0(2) to 8.0 to 11.5 ? or Can I migrate it directly from 7.0(2) to 11.5?

Thanks in advanced.

Alfredo.

If this helps, do not forget, rate!!

COBRAS lets you go from 7.0(2) directly to 11.5 if you like - there's no need to do "hop" migrations

Nice, thanks for reply,

I am going to try derectly migrate.

Best regards,

Alfredo.

the legacy COBRAS page has export and import for Connection 1.2 still on it:

http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS_Legacy.html

note that Connection 1.2 went EOS years ago and is long past TAC support - this version of COBRAS Import for 1.2 is from 2010 - that's the last time it was touched (or will be touched).  It will not run on Windows server 2012 or Windows 10 - you'll have to get a version of Windows 7 to run it on.

I've tested it going into Connection 10.0 - you may see some errors as it may not provide all the values for updated stored procedures in later versions.

to be clear, version 2.1.17 of the COBRAS Import out on the legacy page (under the download were the 1.2 export is) is the last version of COBRAS Import that deals with 1.2 at all...

Since I get asked "why" on this now and again - remember that Connection 1.2 was Windows based using Microsoft SQL - the jump to 2.x (short lived) and then 7.x was Linux based with Informix SQL and an entirely different data model.  Bridging the two was a nightmare, as you can imagine.

So... no, I'm not updating the import to handle 1.2 exports for more modern versions of Connection!  It's pushing 10 years out of sales and 7 years end of support - time to move on.

Hi there,

Just to add a little note to the good help from Brandon (+5), the legacy version of COBRAS that supports CUC 1.2 is located at the link below;

http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS_Legacy.html

Cheers!

Rob

Yes thank you. I found that. I'm more confused about what version of Imports for Unity Connection I need. The error dialog says that the imports software can't handle the 1.2 export, not that Unity Connection can't handle it.
