Hi Jacky,
its got resolved after upgrading the NX-OS to 5.0 (3)N2.
full support for 1 Gig interfaces was added in NX-OS release 5.0(3) as per the following release notes: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9670/product_bulletin_c25-658155.html

I faced the same problem today. My version is 5.0(3)N2(2a) on 5548UP. I still get "sfp validation failed" for GLC-T (manufactured by cisco). What could be the reason? I tried to pulling it out and re-inserting, tried different piece, no result. Also, there is no "speed" command for the intreface.

Two items to check.
First - Is the GLC-T Cisco and is it a version 3 or higher device? It will be labeled with the version. I have found that version 3 and above are the only supported GLC-T's.
Second - If the above is version 3, have you connected to the first 16 ports in teh 5548 and has it been enabled for 1GB?

Ah, that was the problem. I thought that in 5500 all ports are 1G capable :-/

All ports on 5500 are capable of 1Gig..

True, I found the problem. The port was already configured as vPC member, so speed can be configured on Port-Channel :-)

Hello everyone,
I'm having the exact same issue as listed above. I have configured the Nexus speed at 1000 speed. leolaohoo stated above asking the questions if the SFP is GLC-T or GLC-TX. As you can see below the SFP is model number GLC-T-X. Is this supported on the Nexus 5548UP? I NOTE: this problem is happening on four connections.
OS version: system: version 5.1(3)N2(1)
Ethernet1/5
transceiver is present
type is SFP-1000BASE-T
name is OEM
part number is GLC-T-X
revision is
serial number is CLS10014881
nominal bitrate is 1300 MBit/sec
Link length supported for copper is 100 m
cisco id is --
cisco extended id number is 4

Hello Ajith and everyone else,
What negotiation mode are the interfaces with "SFP validation failed"? I ran into this issue today and I was able to resolve this issue by making sure "speed 1000" AND "negotiation auto" are both enabled on the device. You may be getting the "link not connected" because you'll probably need negotiation auto on the both sides of the link since it's enabled on the Nexus.
My best guess as to why both are necessary is that it performs more like Nexus's speed-group command than like the traditional IOS speed command. Meaning that is simply tells the interface that it wants to operate in 1G mode instead 10G mode. I should note that I am not on any nexus team that is just my guess from my personal experience.
Kind regards,
Ben
