We are setting up a WLC 7500 for the first time and are having a hard time trying to connect an LAP to the WLC. We have 1042 Access Points.
Reason for last unsucessful attempt: to many concurrent ap image downloads
Last Error Occurred: Lwapp discovery request rejected
Last Error Occurred Reason: Too many concurrent AP image downloads
We only have 1 AP plugged in so far and it does recieve an IP address from DHCP.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

Thanks for the reply!
DHCP pool is configured with option 43 to be have 10.10.60.1 our dhcp is 10.10.50.x but all clients on the 50 can ping the .60 range we have that setup here. The AP get's an IP of 10.10.50.183 when trying to join.
Switches are configured as access ports on the same vlan as the management vlan on the WLC
Console logs are as follows:

i have set dhcp option 43 to our controller ip address 10.10.60.1
i have also set capwap and lwapp in dns to the 10.10.60.1 address... which is the management address of the controller
thanks

Check the time settings on the controller. The controller can refuse settings if the time is too far apart.
Is your dns pointer entry cisco-capwap-controller.yourcompany.com or cisco-lwapp-controller.your.company.com?
Make sure you have the required vlans on the trunk port to the controller. I see you can ping the .60 range, but can the clients ping the controller management address?

Matt,
Do these APs use self-signed certs (SSCs) or manufacturer installed certs (MICs)?
Debug pm pki enable on the controller to see if you need to add an SSC entry. And make sure the WLC is configured to accept both MICs and SSCs under Security/AP Policies.
Config auth-list add ssc

We are setting up a WLC 7500 for the first time and are having a hard time trying to connect an LAP to the WLC. We have 1042 Access Points.
I'm reading the data sheet for the 1040 and I don't see anywhere about "mesh" being mentioned. I guess it's not supported.
But when you go to the 7500 data sheet, it's mentioned.

SSC and MIC certs have been added
one thing i do notice is on the ap in console mode after it boots up and get's it's ip, after about 50 seconds it says can't find wlc with it's ip renewing ip, I have tried the lwapp command to static enter the wlc ip, with no go still... is there something maybe where it doesn't have enough time to scan for it since it's a 255.255.0.0 subnet??
thanks
matt

Try with network 255.255.255.0 in that way u will eliminate one problem, if exists.
