WCS not adding 5508 Controller

Hi,

I have done some searching on the support forum about this topic. Seems that all solutions are null and void for us because we are not using SNMP v3 or H.

We are using SNMP v2, We have upgraded our WCS to latest version as well as the controllers. I have 6 controllers currently added although they are on WiSM blades.

We are unable to add the 5508 Controllers, we keep recieving this error -

No response from device, check SNMP communities, version or network for issues.

I have confirmed all connectivity is working, even with a debug on the controller you can see it sending SNMP packets to the WCS, although still same error.

Is there any other logs I can use to troubleshoot this ?

Thanks

Brad

Hi again,

Our MAX VAR vaules -

Per Get PDU - 30

Per Set PDU - 50

We also just changed to SNMP Version 1 and it worked straight away?

Ok!! Then please delete the existing trap receivers and then reconfigure the same and try adding with required SNMP version.. I mean if you wanna test..

Well we have no trap recievers set in the WLC.

We have left everything default at the moment, just for testing.

Goto WCS Home page > Administration > Logging. Set the message level to "trace". Remove the check boxes next to Navigation, Mobility services Engine. > Save.

Reproduce the issue.

Go back to WCS Home page > Administration > Logging. Click Download.

Open wcs-0*.log using notepad++. Look for "Error" or "Exception".

If you are unable to figure out whats going on, attach the logs here.

Alternatively, you could also restart the WCS Service and try adding the WLC.

I was having the same issue with my 5508. I was using LAG for port agregation and had a number of VLAN's setup. I had an IP address on VLAN 2 of 10.0.2.10 (which I was using for management) and this is the IP address I was trying to use.

WCS was installed on a server on the native VLAN 1 and the WLC 5508 also had an Interface on this VLAN, so the WCS was seeing the traffic back on this interface. I specified this IP address instead and it detected it OK

I had the same problem setting up the AAA server too - if the WLC has an Interface on the same VLAN, you need to specify that IP address

Hope that helps
