I was able to recover an access point from this bug. I performed a reset on the access point by pressing the button for 18 seconds while re-powering the access point. The access point then rebooted, joined the controller, and downloaded it's IOS. 

is cisco intending to make SMB v2 or v3 available in the future? it is unclear in the bug outcomes
