hi team,

update 26 FEB 2025 - added vidcast option
Control Hub Migration Tools - overview(Feb2025) (vidcast)
This vidcast provides a quick overview of the Control Hub Migration Tools (focusing more on the tools related to CUCM to Webex Calling cases). Vidcast covers what is described in below community post plus sharing additional details and insights.
So my suggestion is to watch the vidcast. Community post below is still useful but more condensed info vs vidcast

Note 1: Find slides as attachment (you can locate attachment at the end of community post).
Note 2: At beginning, there is a small section that expands on unique aspects of ''CUCM to Webex Calling'' migration story (to skip go to 5:05)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Webex Control Hub has a section ''Updates & Migrations'' accessible from left services panel that offers various interesting tools.
In this community post, I will briefly describe the use case for each tool.
For some of these tools, I will provide separate community posts to share more details.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) ''Migrate Jabber to the new Webex'' toolScreenshot 2024-11-17 at 1.50.12 PM.png

Useful only for CUCM environments that migrate from Jabber to Webex app (UCM registered).

2) ''Migrate Enterprise phones to Multiplatform (MPP) firmware'' tool
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 1.54.30 PM.png

This tool converts selected ENT Phones to MPP firmware and adds these to Webex Calling.
Import of selected devices (and required details) happens via csv.

Tool can associate these devices to existing users or existing or newly created workspaces.

The actual ENT to MPP firmware migration happens either manually or automated (if CUCC is present).

For more details, check related community post:
Migrate Enterprise Phones to MPP firmware - CH tool quick overview

Note1: there is also this related help article: Migrate Your Phone to Webex Calling , but note that it does not describe well the last part - actual firmware migration etc.
Note2 : this tool focuses on devices (converting and adding) but note that it does NOT add users or features (shared lines, speed dials, hunt groups, etc.).

Note3 : many times you want to check phone eligibility (part of what this tool offers) but without doing the actual Ent to MPP conversion. For this, please check community post below :

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) ''Migrate Calling from UCM platforms to Cisco Webex Calling'' tool
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 2.07.55 PM.png

This tool takes care of phone migration, onboarding to WxC, associating devices to users and workspaces, assigning licenses to users and workspaces, adding primary extension and TN(Telephony Numbers), adding new workspaces in desired WxC Location, etc.
This tool includes the processes delivered by the previous tool (''Migrating Ent to MPP firmware'' tool) but, as you can see from above, does also a few extra things (handles user licenses, primary extensions and TNs, etc.)
This tool does NOT cover shared lines, speed dials or other feature-related config. Check ''Migrate Features to UCM'' tool described later to see how you could handle these aspects.

For more details on this very interesting tool, please check below community post:

4) ''Migrate Personal Contacts to Webex app'' tool
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 2.39.33 PM.png
This tool allows you to migrate your end users' Jabber custom contacts or any third-party custom contact source to Webex personal contacts.
Jabber Custom Contacts refer to non-directory contacts who are outside of your organization and contacts that are stored in the database of Cisco Unified Communications Manager - IM & Presence Service.
Third-party contacts refer to contacts who're outside your org that may be exported and later imported into Webex.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) ''User/contact synchronization'' migration utility
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 2.47.49 PM.png
This utility allows you to sync users and organizational contacts from Unified CM (or LDAP CUCM integrated) to Webex.
Use this migration tool when you are not using the existing Webex methods to provision users (Entra ID or Okta integration, Cisco Directory Connector, APIs, adding users manually or using bulk import in Control Hub).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) ''Migration insights'' migration utility
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 2.48.04 PM.png
This tool checks CUCM config (you need to import CUCM tar file and optionally CDRs) and provides you a zip file that includes a list CSV files that you could check to get useful insights.
For example: you get a list of all your CUCM devices plus their eligibility for Webex Calling solution, devices per device pool, reports about devices and users that would be better to migrated together (based on their huntgroup, call park, call pickup, etc. CUCM config). Plus you get usage reports (for users and devices, for hunt groups, DID usage, etc.), so you can identify users/devices or features that are configured in CUCM but no longer used.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7) ''Migrate Features to UCM'' migration utility
Screenshot 2024-11-17 at 2.48.14 PM.png
This tool gets info from your CUCM (tar from CUCM and optional from CUC), does proper processing and provides you csvs in format that you could use for WxC import.
Then you get these exported csvs (make any desired changes in desired) and select which ones you want to apply.
Then you add them in a zip file that you import back via the tool - and tool starts configuring Webex Calling based on what is included in the zip file.
So for example, you could create a zip file with only the shared lines csv(ConfiguredLineBulk.csv) and the speeddials csv (DeviceLineKeyConfiguration.csv). So this will create two tasks in the task manager  (one for shared lines and one for speed dials) and will start applying the required config.

Also worth watching this excellent short video, where my colleague, Kasey King, shows this tool :

Updates and Migrations - Migrate UCM Features to Webex Calling - vidcast(13:35min)
Something extremely helpful that Kasey does in this video, is that he shows us, during the whole process, the actual IPPhones that changes are applied to.

If I want to migrate from CUCM to Webex Calling, which are the best tools to use and with what sequence?
Before answering this question, let me share some basics:
Webex Calling solution offers (via Webex Control Hub) amazing management capabilities for your calling services. So, for almost every aspect of your calling platform, apart from manual configuration, you can make bulk additions/changes via csv. On top of this, you have powerful APIs that could be used by customers/partners and also 3rdparty management solutions by our ecosystem partners.
Now if you are moving from CUCM to Webex Calling, then you have extra options via the above mentioned tools
Although every customer case might be different, I would say that one good path would be:
a)
to run, first, the Migration Insights utility to get some useful insights.
b)
and then run the ''Migrate calling from UCM to Webex Calling'' tool first and then run ''Migrate Features from CUCM'' tool.
