Hello Cisco Support Community, Im performing my CIPT1 Lab configuring a MGCP GW (C2811 - c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-22.T4.bin) in my CUCM (8.6.2.22900-9), but I had some issues with the registration of the GW.
The first one happened when I tried to use the Configuration Server method in the GW, at the beggining the GW received a sort of MGCP commands, except "mgcp", so the GW at IOS level never appeared as "registered" in #sh ccm-manager. Fortunately, I was able to solve it only activation the "mgcp" command and the GW appears registered in #sh mgcp and #sh ccm-manager.
However, at CUCM level, even with the "registered" state in the GW, the GW apears "unregistered". I tried:
I really appreciate your help or advice.
Regards.

did you use a DNS registered name or an IP address? I get this when I use an IP address and not a DNS name. HTH

Hello, I used the GW Hostname without domain name with the command "no ip domain name".

Have the hostname of your gateway added to your DNS and in call manager gateway.somedomain.com where 'gateway' is the hostname of your voicegateway.

Hello , ¿Is really necessary to add a domain name in the GW?, keep in mind that the "domain name" (the hostname of my GW) in CUCM, and the hostname in my GW configuration match exactly.

After making changes, you'll need to enter
no mgcp
&
mgcp
Cisco doc suggest restarting RIS data collector.( I see from posting above, that you have tried this)
Try restarting Tomcat service. I have seen similar issue with phones not showing registered, but they were registered and working. Restarting tomcat service resolved the issue with the phones, so I guess its worth a try.
Hope this helps,

Hello, after restarting the Cisco Tomcat service in the Publisher, the issue persists:
#GW sh run output: http://justpaste.it/kt2c
#GW sh ccm-manager output: http://justpaste.it/kt2a
CUCM MGCP GW State: Attached Image
I restarted not only the Cisco Tomcat Service, but also RIS Data Collector, Cisco Database Layer Monitor (according to https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11064241/registration-mgcp-unknown, https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11718091/mgcp-voice-gateway-registration-issue), and CM Service (according to: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10854801/mgcp-gw-registration-failure). I dont know what else could be a solution.
Regards.

Hello,
can you please collect below said, debug output while performing no mgcp / mgcp
debug mgcp packets
debug mgcp events
Also do you also observe outbound call failure, or its just status showing un-registered.
Thanks,
amit

Hello, here is the requested mgcp debugs output: http://justpaste.it/ktez
I only see the "unregistered" status in CUCM, I havent place calls yet, because Im in the step-by-step CIPT1 Lab Guide and I want to assure that at least have the GW registered before proceeding with the following steps.

This can happen if you select the wrong hardware when building the gateway in CUCM. Screenshots of the Gateway config pages in CUCM and of the output of the router CLI commands Show Hardware and Show CCM would help.

Hello, here are the requested show commands: http://justpaste.it/kthg . In the #sh inventory appears the VWIC-2MFT-E1 that Im using.
Also, I attached the CUCM Screenshots of the GW Configuration.
I dont know if the 12.4 IOS could be the root cause, because before I provisioned in CUCM a MGCP C2921 without problems, however I couldnt install it the C2811 VWIC, becuase the 2900 only accepts VWIC2, and the C2811 GW dont have the enough DRAM to support an IOS 15.

CUCM GUI shows the registration of the endpoints, in this case the endpoints are the E1 PRI channels but you have not configured any channels on the E1. Try adding this:
controller E1 0/0/0
pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

Hello, I added the commands but still shows "unregistered". It seems that there arent enough dsp resources for set up the VWIC:
GW1-PSTN-Lab#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config)#controller E1 0/0/0
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp
%Please configure network-clock-participate wic 0 first
%Insufficient resources to create pri-group - it has been removed
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#network-clock-participate wic 0
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config)#
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config)#controller E1 0/0/0
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp
% Not enough DSP resources available to configure pri-group on controller E1 0/0/0
% The remaining dsp resources are enough for 0 time slots.
% For current codec complexity, 2 extra dsp(s) are required to create this voice port.
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#
GW1-PSTN-Lab(config-controller)#^Z
GW1-PSTN-Lab#
Regards.

You will need to buy and install some DSPs. You have no voice channels available on your E1 until you do. You will need a PVDM2, minimum of PVDM2-8 to set up 8 channels on your E1, larger one if you want more channels. Check Ebay.
