Hi
I have a server with 4 ethernet ports, 1G, they are bonded together, two of them was pluged into cat6500 module WS-X6724-TX. now we have moved the two ports to the replace module WS-X6748-GE-TX.
the one of the two ports are not online.
cat6500#sh run int g10/2
interface GigabitEthernet10/2
description moved server
switchport
switchport access vlan 102
switchport mode access
no cdp enable
spanning-tree portfast edge
end
I have also run sh run all and I found that there is a shutdown existed on show run all:
cat6500# sh run all | b interface GigabitEthernet10/2
interface GigabitEthernet10/2
description moved server
switchport
switchport access vlan 102
switchport mode access
shutdown ----> this is a suprise!!!
no mab
snmp trap link-status
no cdp enable
spanning-tree portfast edge
!
I have checked server side, the bond configuration are same no changed.
Please advice what is possible reason replace module will cause link offline? why "sh run all" give the port is shutdown? anywhere I can fix this problem?
Any comments will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi,
So, what happens if you do a "no sh" under the interface?
Also, can you post "sh ip int bri gi10/2"?
What version of IOS are you using?
sh ver | inc bin

Hi,
What i see here is tht u have replaced the 24 port module with a 48 port module..is it installed in the same slot or other slot..?.
If it is installed in the same slot then i suggest u to clear the config of this module and re-configure it.
Thanks

did go to conf t and the internet, "no shut" not improve, the "sh run all" still give shutdown word.
sh ip int brief g10/2
interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
GigbitEthernet9/2 unassigned Yes unset down donw
I did few times, the status, protocol change time by time, from up to down.

Is the output you provided from the actual switch? because
Protocol
donw ????
What is the output of show module?
Also, can you take the module out and reinsert it again?

Yes, the protocol is down on the switch. I did not copy/paste, because this web do not allow me to paste, (or I do not know how to).
ok, I have not remove the module, but put it on another module, with a port that with "no shut" on the interface. same result. so, perhaps I have misleading.
however, the link is up/down.
