I was hoping for some advice on a Private VLAN setup.
We have a few servers that we want to seperate at layer two and therefore want to use private vlans to do this.
The servers all plug into a 3560 (EMI) switch and this switch is uplinked to the Core 4507R-E (IPBASE).
My question is about the placement of the gateway that these servers need to use, our core firewall is the default gateway for this device and is connected into a 3750 (SMI/IPBASE) which uplinked into the network through the 4507R-E.
Now the 4507R-E and 3750 are VTP Servers for the VTP Domain in our network and the 3560 is in Transparent mode as required for the Private VLAN.
With this topology is it still possable to use the core firewall as the default gateway? If not what do other people do to accomplish this type of topology.
I've attached a basic topology so you can see the required topology.
This is a new product launch - Catalyst 8000 Edge Platforms Family Overview. We will go over the series Catalyst Cellular Gateway in great detail.
