Hi,

Whenever i tried to install OVA file for Cisco Unity connection i faced the following error. I tried different OVA files but result is same.

There was an error creating the import specification from the OVF file

I have attached the screenshots as well.

Description

Symptom:
Getting "unknown error" while trying to deploy the PLM/PCD OVA on ESXI 6.5 Update2
+++ PLM OVA: plm_11.5_vmv8_v1.1.ova
+++ ESXi version: 6.5.0 Update 2 (Build 8294253)

Error:
Unknown Error : There was an error creating the import specification from the OVF file.

Conditions:
+++ PLM OVA: plm_11.5_vmv8_v1.1.ova or PCD ova pcd_12.5_vmv8_v1.2.ova
+++ ESXi version: 6.5.0 Update 2 (Build 8294253)

Workaround:
- Deploy the OVA using ovftool. Install the ovftool on linux/windows system then run the similar command(values will differ based on the deployment/setup)

ovftool -dm=thick -ds="datastore1" --net:"eth0"="VM Network" "pcd_12.5_vmv8_v1.2.ova" vi://root@10.106.106.206

-dm : provisioning method thick or thin
-ds : datastore name
--net:"eth0" : Port Group Name for eth0
"pcd_12.5_vmv8_v1.2.ova" : path where ova is present (in the above example , it is on the same directory where command is being run)

root@10.106.106.206: should be replaced with root@esxi_ip/fqdn

- Another potential workaround is to update Embedded ESXi Host Client to v1.33.1 and use this for PLM installation
