Afternoon all, we're in the process of rolling out Unity Connection voicemail accounts to a few thousand users and we've had a couple of queries re. security for new users in light of the recent high-profile "phone hacking" scandals in the UK. Distributing passwords/PINs to new users is always tricky and we're settinga default PIN on our users' accounts. It would appear that Unity Connection immediately starts delivering voicemails via email, even if the user has not run through the guided setup on their phone and changed their PIN. This unfortunately doesn't serve to enourage them complete the guided setup and change their PIN. I'd like to be able to do the following:
- delay operation of the voicemail box (limit ability to receive messages and/or block email notification) until the user has completed guided setup
- run a report that tells me which users have not completed guided setup and changed their default PIN
Is this possible or should I log it as a feature request?
Gary

1. You cannot do this automatically, you can sure disable unified messaging single inbox per user and enable it manually or in bulk later, but this is manual process.
2. There is UCXN report that shows who went through inital enrolment.

Thanks for the replies Chris and Rob. I'll be putting in a feature request for the "lock-out until enrolment" option and firing up an XP VM on my Mac to try and get to grips with this neat reporting tool.

Hi Gary,
Just to add a note to the great tips from Chris (+5 my friend)
For Unity Connection
There is a perfect tool for this type of report. We have used this to search for the same "setup" info
Check the "Set for First Time Enrollment" and "Voice name Recorded";
Connection User Data Dump (CUDD) Tool
The Connection User Data Dump (CUDD) is a Windows-based remote database administration tool available on the Cisco Unity Tools website. CUDD allows you to export specific information about users to a file that can be viewed or imported into another application, such as a database utility or Microsoft Excel. When the data is exported, the tool automatically creates a header row that lists the data type found in each column of the output, for ease of import into other programs.
Here is a sample (where the 0 under first Time Enrollment means the user has
completed the setup and 1 means they have not gone through the Enrollment steps)
This report shows that I have been diligent and gone through the First time enrollment
while the slacker Ben has not.
DISPLAY_NAME | PRIMARY_EXTENSION | SET_FOR_FIRST_TIME_ENROLLMENT |
Rob Huffman | 7001 | 0 |
Ben Nutball | 6813 | 1 |
The tool is available from the "Superb" Unity Tools site;
http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/UserDataDump/UserDataDump.html
From the Help Notes;
Requirements/Special Notes
This version of User Data Dump runs on Windows XP/2000/2003 or Vista.
***This version of User Data Dump only works with Unity Connection 7.0(1) or later.
Cheers!
Rob
