Knowing that LEAP is Cisco proprietary, is the only difference between LEAP and 802.1x the RADIUS authentication client challenge using the one-way hash ? I'm trying to understand why someone would choose one over the other at this point.

If LEAP handles dynamic key generation between client and RADIUS server, then why do you have to specify a static WEP key in the AP and the client in order to communicate with the RADIUS server.
