Hi,
We are using cisco WLC 5520 for our wifi connectivity with HA configured. Since last few days i am observing a strange behaviour from my standby controller which i had never observed earlier. Controller is rebooting after the below activities:
1. If we are removing uplink patch cord from the standby controller, it starts rebooting with below reboot reason:
Reset reason : none of the ports is connected ,(Version: 8.5.171.0)
Reset time : Sun Mar 12 05:55:27 2023
Trace back : 0x428b9d 0x132099f 0x1384d60 0x137db5a 0x1377c9e 0x1327a23 0x3ba6c07dff 0x7f7fcea4839d
2. If we are reconnecting the uplink patch cord, it again starts rebooting with below reason code:
Reset reason : Peer-RMI, peer-RP and management default gateway are reachable ,(Version: 8.5.171.0)
Reset time : Sun Mar 12 06:20:25 2023
Trace back : 0x428b9d 0x132099f 0x1384d60 0x137a3fb 0x1377b15 0x1327a23 0x3ba6c07dff 0x7f500635c39d
Both of the controllers had been reconfigured last month due to certain misbehaviour and HA configuration was setup 2 days back. Before reconfiguration, i had never found this kind of misbehaviour from controller's end earlier before.
Thanks in Advance.

What is the reason of removing uplink port from standby WLC. I think its a normal behavior of the Cisco controllers.

Hi Sandeep,
we had configured HA last week. just to test it, I had removed the uplink of active controller. Earlier , i had never observed this kind of behaviour earlier before. We are using cisco since 2017 with similar setup.

Are you doing any failover tests? why do you need to remove standby WLC uplink ports? (due to any other issues ?)

Does it reboot constantly after you reconnect the cable or just once?
Note 8.5.171.0 is quite old now - refer to links below for TAC recommended code versions.

Agreed with @Sandeep Choudhary - it sounds like normal behaviour to me.
