Cisco AIR-AP1815W-B-K9 console adapter

Not applicable

We just bought 103 of these 1815w access points.

The AP has a miniature connector for the console port.

The documentation says there is a custom 4-pin connector for the console AIR-CONSADPT=.

I cannot find this connector anywhere on the Cisco site.

Is available to purchase?  Or is there an alternative adapter?

Does anyone know what the pinout of this connector is? I can't find that anywhere and it's like 2 weeks to actually get one in hand.

Thanks

Thanks, but I'm looking for the pinout of the console for the 1815w. It is a 4 pin mini molex connector on the back. i.e. I want to get by without buying the AIR-CONSADPT= and use my own adapter.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize that they don't use the usual RJ45 plug for this AP model.
The manual (sadly) states this: "You will require the custom four-pin adapter AIR-CONSADPT= to use this port."

Dang it Cisco... killing me. These adapters aren't just laying around either.

Thanks!

Finally got a homegrown solution to the console cable to use with the 1815w

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QT7LQ88

Use this cable and the following pinout

pin 2 <-> white

pin 3 <-> green

pin 4 <-> black

You'll need a 4 pin molex connector to get on the console of the board, but hey, it works!

Here is the Molex connector

https://www.molex.com/molex/products/datasheet.jsp?part=active/0510210400_CRIMP_HOUSINGS.xml&channel=Products

And here it is from Digikey. Digikey will list all the parts needed to make this as well.

I do not post in here often, but @ctbower98 was spot on with his info with the adapter from amazon.  That worked perfect and saved me 40 days of waiting for a part that was no where to be found in stock anywhere.

Thank You!

Thanks ctbower98 this worked perfectly for me. Amazon had the adapter in stock and I was able to order the little Molex connectors and appropriate sized female inserts right from the Molex site.

Hi Razelle,

can you please send me pics of it. Esp. 4 pin 1.25mm Picoblade female pin layouts (which one is 1,2,3,4) I guess USB A remains 1 Red, 2 white, 3 Green, 4 Black. Also additionally any driver or software needed other than Putty?

Thanks & Regards

No additional drivers were needed for the adapter on W10 & 11 Windows found the drivers and Yes it works with Putty.
