Hi Team,
Please advise on how to upgrade CUCM from version 11.5 (11.5.1.13900-52) to version 15.X.
Is there a direct upgrade path available? If not, what are the steps for the upgrade?
Thank you.

You can find the needed information for this if you read the recommended list of documents for any upgrade. That would be these.
I recommend following the CSR compatibility guide and checking for the recommended versions. Additionally, make sure to read the following resources.
These resources will provide comprehensive information to answer your question.

The documents that @Roger Kallberg mentioned are crucial to read before the upgrade. Relying solely on someone else’s advice for an upgrade isn’t enough. In your case, you’re planning a Refresh Upgrade. However, please note that Refresh Upgrades from Pre-12.5.x sources to Release 15 are not supported.
In your situation, I recommend migrating from version 11.5 to 15. You have two options:

Has anyone else ran into the import issue with UCM 15, it boots up and when selecting the import option it gets stuck here.
It works for CUCM 12 and 14 but on 15 no go?

Do you know if it better now with v15 SU1?

Did you find solution for this issue ?

I recently performed a migration from version 11.5 to 15 using the fresh install option and didn't encounter any errors. Could you outline the steps you performed?

I bypass the media check when I install CUCM 15 because it's a lab environment to check before generating it on production. After import, it gets stuck in a CLI like image where I respond on

could you maybe share a screenshot?

If you see the exact same screen, it seems that the CUCM installation is stuck, not the import of the old cluster data. When you select 'import,' the CUCM installation will proceed, and at some point, it will ask you to configure the network settings. After that, the import of the old cluster data will start.
It looks like you are stuck in the installation of CUCM. Could you try creating a CUCM VM using the latest OVF for CUCM 15 and attempt the installation again?
Additionally, make sure you do the media check. It won't take much time.

The screenshots I shared below are from a fresh install with data export I did two days ago. Your source must be a CD. If you encounter an error at this step, check if the CD got disconnected. Try using the second CD, as there is a bug with CUC OVA CSCwi62194. The workaround is to use the second CD because the first one might get stuck with the message: "Please insert CDROM containing '/ks/cfg'."
If this issue persists, it’s best to reach out to TAC for further assistance.
The actual Data Import happnes only after you configure the network whch is later.
I encountered another issue during the installation after the data export for 3 out of 5 nodes, which was from CUCM 11.5 to 15. The solution was to export the data again from the source and redo the installation. I thought of sharing this here, assuming it might help someone. Basically, the cause of the failed installation was that the exported tar files were missing a file called pam.d.

Have not tested again in the lab, please provide steps taken as per Nithin Eluvathingal request.
From there one can investigate further.

@Nithin Eluvathingal @Hermanus Janse van Vuuren I tested with the official Cisco image, and everything functions as it should. Thank you everyone.
