Ok, I thought I had the reason for the VLAN interface command down. I thought it was either used for switch management or routing between VLANS? However, now I realized that some communication wont work with out this command which doesnt make sense...

I have several buildings with fiber transceivers between them, can I implement 802.1q trunks between my catalyst 3550s? Currently these are access ports. There are no gbics slots available to use the WS-G5484, thus I am using the transceivers.

3550 Gig0/1 port connected to 5500. The 3550 side does not show CDP information. The 5500 side does show CDP information. Do the 3550's support CDP over Gig links? Or is there some other problem why the 3550 doesn't see the CDP nei.?
